    • sugar: I like to use raw cane sugar, But regular granulated sugar works too.
    • Mascarpone cheese: Use high quality mascarpone for the best creamy texture. Store-bought and Homemade mascarpone Work here.
    • egg: You will need a medium-sized egg at room temperature. This helps the dough mix more evenly and gives a better texture.
    • baking powder: Just a small amount helps the cookies stay soft and a little fluffy.
    • orange: Use an organic orange, because you will be using the peel. You can easily replace it with lemon peel, or half a teaspoon of vanilla extract.

    Step 1. In a large bowl, whisk the mascarpone with the sugar, lemon peel and eggs. Sift the flour and baking powder into the bowl.

    Step 2. Mix all ingredients until you get a consistent and smooth dough. Wrap in cling film and refrigerate for 15 minutes.

    Step 3. Use your hands to form small balls. Arrange them on a baking tray, then put them in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.

    Step 4. Bake the cookies for about 15 minutes. Cool completely, then sprinkle with powdered sugar, or decorate with mascarpone cream.

    Storage tips

    • In the refrigerator: Store cookies in an airtight container or airtight jar. Keep it in a cool place in your kitchen or in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
    • In the freezer: Place the biscuits in the baking tray for an hour, then transfer them to a resealable bag Freeze them for up to 2 months.

    Yes you can! You can shape the mascarpone cookies in advance, place them on a tray, cover them, and keep them in the refrigerator overnight. Then bake it the next day.

    • 100 g sugar, About half a US cup
    • 1 tablespoon Orange flavour
    • 1 egg
    • 250 g All-purpose flour, About 2 US cups
    • 3 teaspoon baking powder

    For the top layer:

    • 125 g Mascarpone cheese, About half a US cup
    • 3 tablespoon Powdered sugar
    • 1 teaspoon Orange flavour

    • In a large bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese with the sugar, orange peel, and eggs until you obtain a creamy, lump-free mixture.

    • Gradually sift the flour and baking powder into the bowl. Mix all the ingredients by hand until you get a consistent and smooth dough.

    • Lightly dust your hands with powdered sugar and form small balls (about 24g/0.8oz each), you can also use a cookie scoop. Arrange them on a baking tray covered with parchment paper, then put them in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.

    • Preheat the oven to 170°C/340°F, or 150°C/300°F with fan option. Arrange the baking tray on the middle rack.

    • Place the cookie tray into the oven and bake for 17 minutes, or until the surface becomes slightly golden. Take the biscuits out of the oven, then place them on a wire rack.

    • When the cookies are cool, sprinkle them with powdered sugar, or put half a teaspoon of mascarpone cream on top, and serve.

    For the mascarpone cream:

    Please note that all of my baking recipes are tested using gram measurements, which are more accurate than cup measurements. US cup quantities are provided, but for best results, please always use a scale when measuring ingredients.

    You can replace orange peel with an equal amount of lemon peel. You can also replace it with half a teaspoon of vanilla extract.
